Happy New Year...welcome 2012

"Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if only we remember to turn on the lights." -Dumbledore

My New Year's resolution is to turn on the lights and find the happiness in everything I do.

I haven't made resolutions for a few years now, because I never keep them, and I end up disappointed with myself. But I saw this quote on someone's resolution, and thought you know what? This is one I really need to work at. I tend to be very negative towards myself and I know I need to be happy with who I am. So that's my goal this year. TO be happy with everything I do...to take pride in all my work...to love my boys, and show them the happiness they bring me everyday!

Christmas Spirit

I've been trying to get into the Christmas mood...it's been raining, and its 70 degrees out, it does not feel like Christmas at all. I know its supposed to be a state of mind , but I can't get there this year. I actually feel like I'm a little depressed. I miss my family. I think we've spent one Christmas with them in the 8 years we've been married. It doesn't help that Scott has to work on Chrsitmas....I kind of feel like the Grinch or Scrooge. But I've 4 days to get there. Happy, merry thoughts...that's my motto...happy, merry thoughts....

"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store? What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?" Dr.Seuess

Almost a year....

It has been almost a year to the day that I last posted on this blog...since I've decided to take a break photography, I think I'm going to try to start posting here again. My last 4 photo sessions have been very disheartening and stressful. So I think need to take a break and get back to basics. Try to remember why I like to take pictures, reminding myself that when I take pictures its to capture a memory, not to worry about how long it takes me to edit or how much I'm going to charge someone...I need to remember that pictures like these...

Pictures that just capture a moment of joy of my kid having fun...that is why I starting taking pictures.

Wow....

6 months...that's how long its been since I posted anything. Again I say wow. So much has happened. We moved into our new house. Tanner started Kindergarten, he lost his first 2 teeth, and today he turned 6. My baby turned 6. It doesn't seem fair that time is flying by, I want him to stay a baby a little longer. He's starting to read and write. He's becoming quite the little artist. He is constantly drawing pictures for everyone...my little man. And today at 547pm he turned 6. No more 7lbs 11oz baby boy, he's 42 in, 39lbs and all boy. Makes me want to cry. So much has happened in the last month I feel like I will never be able to catch up. So I'm going to try and start today keeping up with my blog, we'll see how it goes

Doubt....

So, for the past few months, I've been kind of doubting my photography skills...more worried if someone will like the picture I take, than actually enjoying taking pictures. Which is probably part of the reason I haven't been taking pics for my blog. But then I meet someone like Kailynn, who let me take her senior pictures and what do you know? I take 450 pictures in an afternoon. I had fun, I didn't stress out, and I love all the pictures I took. And the fact that she likes them...well that just a bonus.

Learning from a 5 year old

Updating my blog daily has become impossible. We're packing, and we should technically be out of this place and into the new one this weekend, but the family we're renting from haven't close on their new house yet, and it keeps getting pushed back, so we're kind of just stuck in limbo right now. Our house is packed, and we're living out of boxes....not fun. But in the midst of all the craziness there is one bright spot...my kiddo, who can find happiness with the littlest things...I think I need to take lessons from him.

Starting a new...

Sighs....I'm actually suprised I made it 39 days....life has definatley gotten in the way of my blog. We're moving into a new house, big changes at work. T-ball, lots and lots of t-ball. Now that t-ball is over, we're moving full force in to packing mode. So I may have to put my 365 day project on hold for awhile. But I will still try to post pictures every once in awhile....until we're settled into our new house I won't be able to commit to an everyday post...but I will keep trying.
